From May 5 to May 11, 2024, there were 25,900 Covid-19 instances in Singapore, up from 13,700 the week before.

The average number of hospital admissions for Covid-19 increased from 181 to 250 per day, although the average number of patients in the intensive care unit per day stayed low at three.

of a news release on May 18, the Ministry of Health (MOH) stated that it is actively monitoring the recent increase of Covid-19 infections in Singapore.

"While there is no indication that the circulating variants are more transmissible or cause more severe disease compared to previous variants, immunity in population has likely waned over time," stated the MOH.

MOH asked people to take personal and social responsibility to reduce transmission and to stay up to date on Covid-19 vaccinations in order to protect themselves against both existing and new virus strains.

According to the MOH, 80% of the people in the area had finished their first or second dose but hadn't had one in the previous year.
